Eligibility for MBBS Admission in India
Educational Qualifications:
- Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
- The qualifying examination should include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as mandatory subjects.
- The minimum aggregate marks required in the qualifying examination may vary from college to college, but it is generally around 50% – 60% for general category students. Reserved category students may have relaxation in aggregate marks.
National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET)
- NEET is a mandatory entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
- All candidates aspiring for MBBS admission in India, including Indian nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Non-Resident Indians (NRI), and Foreign Nationals, are required to qualify the NEET exam.
- Candidates must obtain the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET as prescribed by the authorities.
Age Criteria
- The candidate should be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission.
- There is generally no upper age limit for MBBS admission; however, some institutions or states may have specific age restrictions.
Domicile and State Quota
- Some states in India have a domicile requirement for MBBS admission, which means candidates need to be residents of that particular state to be eligible for admission under the state quota.
- Candidates should check the specific eligibility criteria of the state where they intend to apply for MBBS admission.
