NIOS Admission
NIOS Admissions: National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) offers admissions to various courses at the secondary (10th Standard) and senior secondary (12th standard) levels, as well as vocational and life enrichment programs.
Admissions in SECONDARY Course (10th Standard) : The learner can choose minimum five subjects and maximum 7 subjects.
Admissions in Sr. SECONDARY Course (10th Standard) : This Course is designed for those who have passed the 10th standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board. The learner will be required to successfully complete a minimum of five subjects, and maxmimum 7 subjects.
Admission Process

Obtain the Prospectus: Visit the official NIOS website or the nearest NIOS regional center to obtain the prospectus, which contains detailed information about the courses, eligibility criteria, fees, and the admission process.

Fill out the Application Form: Fill out the application form provided in the prospectus or available online on the NIOS website.

Attach Documents: Attach the necessary documents as specified in the prospectus, such as age proof, address proof, identity proof, and educational certificates (if applicable). Make sure to provide attested copies of the required documents.

Pay the Fees: Pay the prescribed admission fees for the selected course(s) as mentioned in the prospectus. NIOS offers various payment modes, including online payment options, bank drafts, and challans. Ensure that the payment is made within the specified deadline.
About NIOS Exams
Examination Schedule: NIOS conducts examinations twice a year – in April-May (Block 1) and in October-November (Block 2). The exact dates for the examinations are announced by NIOS and are typically published on the official NIOS website.
Examination Pattern: NIOS exams consist of both theory and practical components, depending on the course. The theory examinations are conducted in a written format, whereas the practical examinations assess the practical skills of the learners.
Examination Centers: NIOS has a network of examination centers across India and abroad. Learners can choose their preferred examination center during the admission process or as per the guidelines provided by NIOS.
Admit Card: Prior to the examination, NIOS releases the admit cards for registered learners. The admit card contains important information such as the examination center, dates, and instructions. It is necessary to carry the admit card to the examination center.
Eligibility for NIOS Admission
- Minimum Age: Learners must be at least 14 years old as of the date of admission.
- No formal education qualifications are required for admission to the 10th standard. It is open to anyone who wishes to complete their secondary education.
- Minimum Age: Learners must be at least 15 years old as of the date of admission.
- For admission to the 12th standard, learners should have successfully completed their 12th standard or its equivalent from a recognized board.

What is TMAs?
Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMA) are an integral part of the assessment process in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). TMAs are designed to evaluate learners’ understanding and application of the subjects they are studying. Here’s some information about NIOS TMA:
Purpose of TMA: The primary purpose of TMA is to assess learners’ knowledge, comprehension, and application of the concepts covered in the NIOS curriculum. I
Subject Coverage: TMAs are provided for each subject in the NIOS curriculum. They cover a range of topics and concepts as outlined in the study materials. Learners are required to complete TMAs for each subject they are enrolled in.
Assignment Structure: TMAs consist of a set of questions or tasks that assess different aspects of the subject matter. The structure of the assignments may vary based on the subject and level of study.
Submission and Evaluation: Learners are required to complete the TMAs within the given timeframe as specified by NIOS. The completed assignments need to be submitted to the designated study centre or regional centre for evaluation, and students also can submit TMAs online on their own.
Weightage and Grading: TMAs carry a certain weightage in the overall assessment process. The marks obtained in the TMAs contribute to the final grades awarded in the NIOS examinations.
